Just wondered if anyone can recommend these boosters and if so what one? Some of them seem very complicated to set up and just reading the instructions hurts my head

Are you trying to boost signal strength or distance?

Check out Amazon, they have a range of 'plug & play' boosters.

I have a TP-Link WA601G which I got from Paphos Computers. Works perfectly and it was easy to set up... for me anyway, but IT is my profession!

It is just the signal I want to boost as from upstairs to down it is fine most of the time (not enough for TV though) and was wondering whether it is worth investing in one or just bringing the main computer downstairs and have the TV running from the modem rather than Wifi.

That's exactly what I have done. My CYTA Router is downstairs next to the laptop I use for streaming TV (and I also connect the laptop to the router via Ethernet cable rather than WiFi as it's 100Mb as opposed to 54Mb quicker). My Wireless Access Point is upstairs to boost the signal in my office.
