Good idea at least Hughton is English. What about Steve Harper in goal?

Yeah why not, he's got to be International class, hasn't he ?
Pop round his house while you are at it and have a word, he lives in Easington doesn't he ?

Carlisle have just announced a pre season friendly against Newcastle on July 17 in Carlisle. Can't understand why Newcastle would arrange a game so close to the end of the World Cup, doesn't give Hughton, Shola, Harper and Carroll much time to get back from their England heroics does it

BTW, Hughton may have been born in England but all his international career was spent playing for the ROI

Cheers

John

To help bring this thread back on track, here's a picture of Sholagol netting a penalty against the mackems:

Good start to the pre-season for Sholagol - first goal under his belt already, although he does face strong competition from our other super-striker.

Maradona was good, Pele better, but Leon Best.

Came on to replace an absolutely ineffective Carroll yesterday and was a s much use as a chocolate fireguard.
The premier trembles.

Watching Newcastle's pre-season friendlies now are you?? Must be getting worried! :D

Super Shola saves himself for the big occasions - pre-season is all about lulling the future opposition into a false sense of security.....

Brilliant stuff by Shola yesterday - clearly not happy that we were only 4-0 up after 80 minutes sprung into action from the bench to inspire 2 more goals in the last 10 minutes.

If he had played the full game we would therefore have won 18-0. I can see why Hughton thinks it's unfair on the rest of the league to use him from the start.

Yeah, think I'll have a wander down - be rude not to!

Hope we get to see some of the young lads play - Vuckic in particular.

Captain Shola on fine form last night - led a team of young lads in exemplary style and scored the crucial second goal too.

What a guy.

I see it's 10 years since Amoeba made his first team debut.
In that time he's scored 42 goals
So 4 a year, hardly prolific is he ?

When Darren Bent has socred as many goals in European football as Super Shola you can mention him in the same breath - until then please keep inferior strikers out of here! :D

I really shouldn't encourage this thread so I am not gonna comment anymore on here.
I really can't help but think you are either related to Amoeba or want to bed him.

I think you also need a Ben Arfa thread and a Nolan one, the latter just because you can. ;)

Martin,

I have e-mailed Chris Hughton to suggest he sign that donkey in the Stone House car park in return for Shola - I doubt you would spot the difference in skill!!!!! Bet Jo was pleased with Shola.

Very disappointing Sunday, once again a lack of creativity the problem. No shots in first half and two in the second speaks volumes - a long hard Winter ahead, apart from when we play the Mackems.

Turned the game on Saturday, another all-conquering appearance form the bench when we needed him most.

Hitting form just in time to face his favourite enemies - Shola is the bane of the mackems!

I'm sure with his proloific scoring record he'll keep you up

Another match winning performance from Shola, played a crucial part in setting up the winning goal.

Bang in form just in time for his favourite victims....

I just love that whenever the mackems come to town Shola suddenly turns into Pele - against any other team he would have probably shanked that second goal out for a throw in!
