And turn to a Geordie in a desperate attempt to benefit from some reflected glory.

Steve Bruce, December 2008 wrote:
STEVE BRUCE has rubbished suggestions he could be the next Sunderland boss.

And he believes just considering such a move would be an act of betrayal towards his old Manchester United team-mate Roy Keane.

On top of that, Bruce pointed out that a Geordie could never manage the Toon's deadly rivals.

Wigan boss Bruce, whose side take on Arsenal at The Emirates today, said: "Let's nip this straight in the bud. It's a total non-starter.

"I'm very happy at Wigan and if you cut me open I'd be black and white to the core!"

On dear. :doh

But at his press conference he said when asked "Aye but I left the region 30 years ago, I never played for them you know, I come from Corbridge way it's miles from Skunksville and oh I turned them doon last year, Doon Toon that is!" he paused for breath then added" It's a good job the geordies kna nowt about football or they'd know I was the Captain of Man United when we overhauled their ten point lead, Ha Ha Geordie my ****"   He is doing a job mate same as Bob Stokoe did.
Now pack it in or you'll suffer.
Your Jackie Milburn was a Mackem and here's the proof !

Mmmm....techincally Jackie is not a geordie or mackem with him being born in Ashington (along with a lot of other famous "geordie" players).

However, that's down right cheeky showning Jackie in Sunderland top

I hope you miss Newcastle.

In the pass I've give a cheer when Sunderland have gone down. But right after I feel a little sad that we aren't going to play each other next season.

I won't miss Newcastle at all. I'll take great pleasure following their results as they plummet down the coca cola league.

They have made me laugh all season and the comedy isn't over yet !

You're just jealous really - our lot will be having a lovely fun day out in Blackpool while your mob are still paying 50 quid a ticket for the privilege of watching their team get humped at Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge etc.....

Yeah, way to go proving you're not obsessed with all things black and white Brucey! First priority as mackem manager - try and buy any Newcastle players, anyone who used to play for Newcastle or anyone who might want to play for Newcastle!

There is treally only one way to stop all this bickering.

Olympico, date of your choosing, 1 on 1 - first to 10 goals supports the better team.................

So far 5 of our first 9 games have been picked up for live screening by either the Beeb or Sky - still plenty interest in the real big clubs no matter what the division! :pow

How many of your games will be on live over that period I wonder?

Ha Ha Martin, you're still in there hanging on, but I can watch all our games on Sky Football First, that's every single one in the Premier league just about.
You know, The Premier League, the only league worth being in.

If you think getting spanked every other week is fun of course!

Seriously, with the stupid money floating around now, what's your realistic aspiration for this season? 15th? 12th? Hardly going to be exciting is it??

Martin,

Take it easy with Discopants - he is obviously nervous about the Mackems first venture into Europe (actually their second - I believe they got knocked out in the First Round in 1973, after Leeds laid down in front of them at the Cup Final, when they had their only other European experience - remember the quote from their Captan "We are going to take Europe by Storm!". Only storm was in the North Sea on the Ferry back!).

Discopants - you enjoy your trip to Amsterdam and be careful what you get up to. There are lots of strange things in Amsterdam.

Any true Toon Army supporter would not even accept £1M to change allegiance. You are born Toon Army and you die Toon Army!

Nice try though!

I am a bit worried about him - he's sure to find watching his team play football in a foreign country a strange and unsettling experience - we can take comfort in the fact it's not something he's likely to have to get too used to!

Difference being until you posted that I genuinely had no idea about your score, while you lot will have been frothing like rabid dogs with the excitement of the mighty toon losing a pre-season friendly.

Until you manage to shake off that inferiority complex I'm sorry to say you'll be forever in our shadow...

Martin,

I am surprised at you. Surely you meant Rabid Pussies??????

By the way they must be going to sign Darren Bent - he is currently on the Quayside looking at Executive Flats. Funny how all the Mackem players like to live in the Big City and not a backwater. He is also checking out the Pink Village I understand!

Oh and by the way their proposed signing of Chamkha(?) - not only his Chairman, but now his Coach (Lauren Blanc) has said they will not allow him to transfer to Sunderland "...as they are not a big enough Club...".

I think we should put a bid in for him and see what happens!

Martin,

You seem to have woken up Discopants and look what has happened. he seems upset, mind so would you be if you had bought another donkey - the Mackems must have a full set now.

Discopants - Tynemouth is in the locaility to Newcastle and by the way I was brought up in the West End of Newcastle where people fear to tread.

Let's all meet up for a drink in Paphos.

Really Roger, you must try harder.
At least we are adding quality to our donkeys whilst you are getting rid of your best donkeys.
Where will that lead you ?
Do you see my point ?
I am not going to post any pics/funny remarks about your club till Monday in honour of Sir Bobby.
I am calling a truce.

Yet more evidence of Geordie supremacy:

Quote:
Milla Jovovich finally gets hitched to her Geordie boy film maker

Actress Milla Jovovich hopes it will be third time lucky after finally deciding to marry her British film-maker fiance, Paul W.S. Anderson.

After a six-year engagement and postponing their wedding in 2007, the 33-year-old Ukrainian-born star will walk down the aisle on August 22.

‘We’re having an intimate wedding with a classical Spanish band at our house in the Hollywood Hills,’ Milla revealed. ‘Paul’s family are flying in from England.’

Milla met Newcastle-born Paul, 44, when she starred in Resident Evil, which he wrote and directed.

That's right folks, even Hollywood's finest are queuing up for a bit of the Geordie action! :pow

Just read an article about Darren Bent. It states that some years ago Newcastle offered Ipswich £1m for him but Bent declined the offer as he stated Newcastle had 6 quality strikers and he didn't think his career would push on.
Yesterday as Sunderland's record transfer he scored on his debut while Newcastle had Ameobi as a lone striker with Kevin Nolan in support.
Just shows how things change.
I am not sure if he is a great striker or not. He is young and his confidence seems to have suffered at Spurs but I have been impressed with his patter. He talks football and seems focused on football.
He should start most games and might think that if he scores he could go to the World Cup so I am quietly confident about his signature.
That's all, a pretty sensible post today !
Gary

I suppose it is a disadvantage of success but today I read that in the build up to the start of the Premiership which starts next Saturday, Steve Bruce has 13 players away for International friendlies.
Yes you read that right 13 players.
He says he won't see most of them till Friday and didn't play most of them in yesterday's friendly.
He thinks it's disgraceful I agree.-
Something must be done about this, don'tyou agree ?
Gary
