You seriously need to stop reading those tabloids mate :roll:

If MA was going to sell, then it would be to someone who had more money than him, so no real problem but I doubt anything you're reading in the Southern tabloids is factually true, just gossip & tales mate, always the same :eek

Happy Birthday Sir Bob!!!!

One of the best Managers we have ever had and disgracefully treated when he was sacked. Two years of Champions League football and some great times. I managed to see 6 of the away games (5 if you include Barcelona where the match was rained off and played the next day!) with Inter Milan the best (Shearer 2 in a 2-2 draw at the San Siro).

Sad to see he is really struggling healthwise at the moment. Shows what a fighter he is - 5 times with the "Big C".

PS So what about Ashely selling - its his Club he can do what he likes with it!

Keep taking the tablets Discopants!

It was Sir Bobs BD yesterday mate, just I missed it due to the flamin power cut last night, so its a belated Happy Birthday to one of our best ever managers :D :D

I was at both of those games too! :D Managed to stay for the re-arranged Barca match after a last-minute dash down to the internet cafe to rebook flights for a day later - meant we lost a bit of money and got in a bit of bother at work, but I wasn't going to travel all that way and not see the game!

Some cracking chants that night: "We're supposed to be at home", "We're getting sacked in the morning" etc. :lol: Gave them a decent game too - Shola had by far his best game ever for us that night.

p.s. Happy Birthday Sir Bob - one of life's true gentlemen!

It'll be a sad, sad day for us all, he gave us something to believe in after what we had to suffer when KK left us the first time :roll:

He took us back to where we belonged & where we should be now :shock: Lets hope KK can take us back there before we have to say a fond farewell to one of the best :(

Watched the England - Germany match last night, replaying the 1990 World Cup semi to raise funds for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

Good win for the England boys, 3-2 after being 2 down, with Big Al netting the winner from the spot - same old Shearer!

Sir Bobby was there, in a wheelchair now - really sad to see the great man looking so frail but he's kept his quiet dignity throughout.

A true sporting legend.

Could not agree more Captain Fantastic - he is a Great man and it was lovely to see him, even though he is very frail now, and still thinking of others rather than himself. A real tearjerker when they sang Nessum Douma (or whatever) and his face was an absolute picture. A True Geordie Legend.

The game itself wasn't bad with some good stuff played, but obviously at a somewhat sedate pace, but great to see some of the oldies - Little Peter, Rob Lee (my favourite of the first Keegan Manager period), Les Ferdinand, John Beresford and, of course, Shearer who finally got his goal. Good crowd too - seems to have been about 33,000 so Bobby should have raised a few more "Bob" for his Charity.

Interesting the Club had to publish a clarification on its website as it was charging costs to the game for security, Police etc and there had been an outcry as to why the club would not pick up those costs instead of the Charity. Another Ashley own goal?

Yes great memories of a great guy. I hope he gets through this latest "problem". An inspiration to anyone. Everyone has problems (even me Discopants), but compared to him?

He is a gent who is always made welcome at our club.
He is applauded whenever he comes which is very often.
He is a County Durham lad who got it wrong.Ring a Bell anyone ?
He supported both clubs as a lad but came down on your side. Fair Enough, he loves you, he likes us.
Great Memories and I'm pleased for you.
If and when it happens you'll be shocked at the respect the man has from us.

Nice one Gary. There was an excellent turnout for Sir Bobby's memorial yesterday, both at the Cathedral and at SJP.

Watched it on the Beeb - the list of attendees reads like a who's who of the football world:

There was a particularly heartfelt speech from Alex Ferguson, big respect to a genuine football man.
