Well, points wise we're about where I thought we would be and on target to stay up, which as we're not going to make Europe remains our only ambition for the season. Quite unlucky to lose 2-1 to a team that only had 1 shot on target (told you Perch was hopeless! :doh ) but we just didn't come out for the second half. Shame Sol Campbell was injured as I think he could have made a difference against the aerial bombardment.

Darren Bent FC were very fortunate to come up against as poor a Liverpool side as I've seen in years - big problems in that camp and they've absolutely no chance of a top 4 finish.

Well, we were robbed. We out thought and out played the mighty Man United who were really lucky to escape with a point from that.
A bit like last week when the ref should have been shot for allowing Liverpool's first goal, the ref yesterday obviously travelled up sitting on Fergies knee on the bus.
Grrrr,
How was the ref at The Mugs' match ?
Gary

I had almost forgotten how completely disheartening the premier league can be. As if going to Man City with their ridiculous overspending isn't hard enough you get yet another ref watching out for the big teams, giving them a pen that was 50/50 at best and completely ignoring a blatant one for us. Oh, plus of course they blatantly set out to target our best player who now has a double leg break and is probably finished for the season (the ref told him to "get up" and played on!)

I almost hope we get relegated again so at least I can have another season of enjoying watching football again.

Not much to talk about when there's no games being played!

Besides I'm still hacked off about the Ben Arfa injury - watching him play was one of the few things I was looking forward to this season. :(

Sorry to see Darren Bent missing the England match with an injury.

Is it true he's strained his back from carrying the whole sunderland team all season??

How is it most leading goal scorers are admired by opposing fans but ours is carrying the team. He must be a helluva player to beat teams on his own.
Oh and he's injured now, so what do we do ?
Not bother turning up ?

What I'd like to know is.......................how has young Jordan got this recognition when Darren Bent has been carrying him so much ?

 I've really touched a nerve with this one-man team talk haven't I??

Anyway, back to business today - really need a result against Wigan if our home form isn't going to become a real problem - think Hughton needs to be a bit braver and play 2 up front and have a real go.

Don't think I'll bother with the Monday night match - Sam Allardyce's style of "football" makes my eyes sad...

On a positive note, I guess at least a relegation battle will keep the season interesting for longer - better than disappearing into midtable obscurity...

He'll be fine now captain Kevin Nolan is looking out for him - there's even a Twitter feed where you can keep up with their activities:

They should make it into a tv show. If I was Nolan I'd be very worried.

It must be a Friday, Carroll's in the news for all the wrong reasons and Gazza has been arrested yet again, this time for drugs.
Good ole Newcastle Academy.

Ferdinand's is hardly worth mentioning, Brambles rape case has been dropped today.
Never mind, Carroll's alleged bottling trial starts Monday.

I'm a bit worried about the mackems new star player - Owen Goals I think he's called, he's their second highest scorer this season now!

At least they're not relying on Darren Bent too much anymore.

We like to talk about our forwards for footballing reasons.
He is a disgrace and your club's stance on all of his outrageous behaviour is a disgrace too.

If that is what you call gracing the famous number nine shirt, get on with it.

I love it when you try and take the moral high ground!

Anyway, back the game - we've been ridiculously unpredictable this season, poor at home but decent away and just about every match has ended with the opposite result of what I've predicted.

Bearing that in mind I think you'll beat us easily - probably at least 3-0.

I hope you are right but I doubt it.
As for the moral high ground, as far as that buffoon is concerned I can and you know it, hence the change of tack.
I am not predicting the result this weekend. As you say, at home you are unpredictable but if we freeze you'll win at a stroll.
If we come with a plan and play to it I don't think you'll win but I'm not saying we will cos as you say we are finding goals hard to come by.
It's Derby Day, owt can happen.

Would probably take a draw to be honest - 1-1 with goals from Bent (obviously!) and a Shola penalty after a Shambles foul...

Another absolutely ridiculous result - unbelievable stuff!

Was actually a bit worried the first 20 minutes as you were looking dangerous on the break and seemed to be winning most of the 50/50 challenges, but once we scored it was one of the most one-sided games I've seen in a long while.

Special mention to Titus Shambles for doing what he does best, and Scrattermole for being such a rubbish captain he had to be subbed to stop him getting sent off. Oh, and if Chelsea offer you anywhere near 10 million for Henderson I would rip their arm off! :D

Big thank you to Agent Bruce for all his hard work - he might have looked sad but I'm sure he was smiling on the inside!

I can still not work out if it was because we were so bad or you were so good.
I saw the warning signs after about 15 minutes when Turner and Bramble left Carroll unmarked in the penalty area.
I was saying to anyone who would listen that if the Mags got the first goal that was it.
Henderson played the poorest he has for a very long time. Cattermole is a liability I have never said anything else. In fact, even I was laughing at him at one point, he brings nowt to the table.
He was the reason our supposed more numbers in midfield was nullified. He can't play football and is only good for breaking up the other team, but seing as Bruce has told him to stop tackling then.............. :?:
I have been asking on our forum for weeks why Welbeck starts ahead of Gyan. Who knows.
Yes Bruce maybe an undercover agent what with selling Jones and paying 13 million for Gyan then not playing him :?
Bruce said yesterday that was the worst we have played under him. I would say that is the worst we have played full stop.
They will not be able to redeem themselves in my eyes for a very long time and I don't mean a 1-0 win against Stoke on Satda.
Even you may not realise the damage yesterday could have done to us. That could have a big effect on our season.
Whatever you do Martin don't change your avatar. Nolan may have been Captain Fantastic yesterday but I have a feeling to have him in your avatar will bite you on the bum.
Enjoy the next few months, I would, and bring it on, I deserve it.
Gary

I've heard a few people making similar comments - Bruce is in a very shaky position now if results don't start to go your way I can't see him lasting. A Kenwyne Jones winner on Saturday and the knives will be out....

For us, I'll still just be happy to stay up this season, but we've already had some better results than I imagined possible.

I'm going to have a pretty decent supply of this kind of thing for a while too:
