Got my newest gadget - a bread machine. Just wondering what yeast people use in their machines and where do they buy it. I know I have tried one (a while ago), but wasn't over impressed as I found it was ok for pizza dough but that was about it. Also most of them seem to be in Greek which I don't read - or am I looking in the wrong places?

Suggestions people so I can start making some scrumpteous bread

If you are REALLY stuck, 'Lakeland' have a great selection of 'ready mix' packets AND they deliver to Cyprus

I use Allinson's dried yeast which I can get in Papantoniou and Alphamega.

Allinson's is ok , but they are all much the same , I use the magic brand, just because its
cheaper, but it works very well ..

In my breadmaker, I always used Saf-instant. It's French and comes in a small beige box of 5 x 11g sachets.

However, it's not just the yeast you need to experiment with, but the flour too. I got the best results using Waitrose strong bread flour - used to be available at Orphanides in the Mall and also Papantoniou's at the traffic lights at the bottom of Ellados.

I always followed the recipes from the breadmaker, but the Saf-instant sachets have French and English instructions on them although the box itself is in French, Greek and Chinese ( ).

Just like to say thanks Kay, as used the saf-instant and absolutely fabulous - bread was so light it was like cake. I also use the Waitrose Bread Flour - unfortunately was nearly out so OH went to Orphanidies to get it and guess what - they are out of both. Just thought better get more in whilst they have it - but too late.

You're welcome Trish. Papantoniou's at the traffic lights at the bottom of Ellados sometimes have the Waitrose flour, might be worth a look next time you're in the area.
Happy baking! :greetings
