There seems to be a swing towards these (even with the British population dwindling a little). Clearly they all serve a similar fare and prices are generally similar. But........

Are they all serving the same fare, I wouldnt imagine there are too many suppliers of cod, haddock and Kebabs in Cyprus. Are they all using the same supplier, who is the supplier?

Similarly in what they call fish, is it good cod and haddock or some unnamed species from the deep ocean hidden in various batters?

Do you enjoy a chippy, if so which ones, and which ones to avoid?

Well there is only one fish & chip shop for me and that is at Mandria, although I have heard the one at Coral Bay is good, just a little too far when we have one nearer.

I don't know what fish they use, but it is good and tastes like cod and since it is the only fish I can (or will) eat then what I don't know won't hurt me

we like Frydays fish and chips
absolutely delicious in Coral Bay.....near enough to get them home red hot for us to eat
only problem
we think they have changed their portion sizes and so are are now expensive for what you get
we paid 11.50 euro's for a large cod and chips with peas to share
I am not a big eater at all
but last time we went there wasn't enough for us to share out ..... so was sadly dissapointed
as they only use the freshest whitest of cod fish, fabulous batter and great chips
they just need to adjust their portion sizes to suit the prices charged
heard that TT's do amazing fish and chips.....sadly too far for us to travel to for a take away

Well , I cant comment on our own food at Tommy Tuckers , that would
be being big headed ,
but I can tell you , that we do supply lots of the take aways in paphos with imported goods, all the way from sea cave, up to Tala, kato paphos , then even across to pissouri ..
so there are places out there that get supplied by the same company ..
:greetings

I really was wondering about the supply side, there would have to be a central supplier for so many to spring up so quickly.

No way - I agree with Anais, either Frydays or Mandria.

Santa Marina must have changed their supplier - I was their 2 weeks ago and my fish was grey- the batter was like cardboard-- chips im sure were refried. Same thing happened a while back (complained and no charge as i hadnt eaten it)but thought I'd give them a seconed chance well they have had it -- Frydays for me from now on even though I don't do pubs. We used Santa Marina a lot in the past, it can be good but sometimes not consistent, this is never the case with Mandria (mega portions!!) or Frydays who create the best batter ever.
I used to love Nemo's in Kato Pafos, but it's too far from here, I had heard they had moved nearer the harbour, they were always excellent, but have not been for some time now .

I had fish & chips from Frydays yesterday and for a regular portion it was plenty! Very crisp batter, enough chips, and with a glass of wine and a film it was a perfect evening :cheers

will have to get 2 portions of "regular" size next time instead of 1 "large" portion to share
tho then that will be too much for me to eat on my own lol
excellent fish and chips tho

Neil

As you know i pass TT's 4 times a day as my daughter works at Diva Salon, one day she forgot to make a sandwich so i said call TT and ask for a bacon sandwich to be ready to pick up but we don't see a tel.no. anywhere or is it just my eyes.
Don't you think a tel.no. would possibly bring more business if you don't mind me saying

Jill - you have to trawl down the menu a bit and the tel no is there!

Having said this, I tried to phone on Saturday Morning to see what time the rotisseried chickens might be ready and got no answer! Think it was about 8.30 am Neil

Hi

I was thinking about the passers by who may fancy ordering a take away and then picking it up.

I must have hit Frydays on a bad day. My fish was swimming in grease so much so that the fat was running out of the bottom of the carton and all over my clothes. I will never go there again.

I have never had a bad meal at Mandria. The best fish and crispiest batter in the paphos area and good service.

Nemos been to it's new location, if they aren't paying any different in rent I think it's a very good move at lot people going past while we were eating.

I'm surprise that more people haven't mention them on the thread. I really like there chippies and curries.

I went to Santa marina in Coral Bay last night and we had 2 normal size cod and chips and 2 cans of pepsi to eat in, when it came they were both very big portions with loads of chips. They were cooked very well nice crisp batter and fluffy fish and tasted lovely. They gave us bread and butter as well not that we needed it, total cost was €22.00 we will be going again. I really like Mandria and TT's but this was just as nice. i tried fry days once but didn't enjoy it as much as this maybe they were having an off day the day I went.
