Has anyone got a nice recipe for a Ginger Cake please? Not Gingerbread but cake. I used one I got off the internet but it was not very nice. A nice sticky one would be preferable if anyone has one!!
Many thanks

Maggie you can get stem ginger in Alphamega - I don't think grated fresh ginger would work. I may be wrong of course, let me know!

Thankyou for your comments and you can get Stem Ginger in most of the supermarkets but yes definitely at Alpha Mega as bought some the other day. Alpha Mega is the new supermarket on the motorway roundabout by the new Cinema complex.

No Maggie I am not laughing!! Yes that is the roundabout but Alpha Mega is down the dual carriageway a little bit just before the Petrol Station, so you would either have to go up the dual carriageway from the Debenhams roundabout as it is on that side or go down the side street at the top of Butcher Boy Road. It is sign posted. Hope this helps

Yummy Scrummy or what
got some Stem Ginger from paps down at the harbour today
came home and made my Sticky Ginger Cake
Oh My Word
talk about the nicest Ginger Cake I have ever tasted......and so easy to make
I ended up making 2 sandwhich size cake tins.......as over here I haven't got a large cake tin or loaf tin...I was worried that the cake wouldn't be sticky
I was completely wrong
they are complety moist and sticky all the way through
I made the recipe up by melting thhe butter in with the treacle, syrup, sugar and milk...like some one else had...before mixing with the dried ingredients and then the egg....and it worked a treat
I have used a lemon icing drizzle as told too.....but personally....I won't bother next time...as not needed for us..............next time will leave plain and eat with a dollop of plain yoghurt also will probably make muffins next time :celeb2
enjoy your sticky cake
and thankyou Molly for finding this brilliant recipe :congrats
maggie
ps: edd has just finished a HUGE pice of cake with the lemon icing on.....and said......he adores it iced...he loves the zingy lemon with the treacle , ginger flavours :doh
guess I'll be making both types then :celeb2
