With kind permission and support of Lt Col Bob Pickford, Station Commander Episkopi Station and his team, SSAFA Branch Cyprus will hold SSAFA Party in the Park on Saturday 4th June 2011.
This event will have two parts:
The first will be a party for children. We will have two bouncy castles, junior golf range, a fun bus, two face painters, a pop gun shooting range and a few traditional fairground side shows being run by the Episkopi Station Youth Team.
Chris Pearson and Wes Thompson from BFBS will be playing music, giving away BFBS goodies and generally looking after the stage for us.
Also on stage during the first part of the event will be three dancing exhibitions given by children from Episkopi Station.
For the adults there will be a beer and wine tent provided by Sodexo, hot dog, hamburger, jacket potato, mini donut stands and a genuine “Bratty” wagon direct from Germany. They will be selling Bratwurst, Currywurst, Frikadellen and various types of Schnitzels. Karin from Kazzy’s Currwurst has also said she will donate 50c to SSAFA for each Currywurst sold on the day. Of course you can’t have a SSAFA event without a SSAFA Cake stall and we won’t disappoint you.
The second part of the day will be a music concert consisting of three live bands. The first will be a Rock and Roll band, the second band will be doing modern/current chart music and the headline band will be a Rock band.
So turn up, put your blanket on the grass and have a picnic, or buy some food on site and then enjoy the entertainment and the bands.
The venue will be Happy Valley, Episkopi. The gate will open at 16.30 and the party starts at 17.00. The first band will start at 19.00.
The evening will finish around 22.30.
The cost for all this is just €10 in advance for anyone over 12 years old or €12 on the night.
For those under 12 years old, entrance is free.
Once inside, all the attractions for the children will be free (apart from a small charge for the shooting range).
As an event of this size costs a lot of money to put on, we have been very lucky to acquire sponsorship from the deVere Group as sole sponsors of the event. This means that almost all the money taken on the gate will go straight into SSAFA funds.
SSAFA Cyprus obviously works with those serving in the Armed Forces and their families, but we also work with anyone who has served in the British Forces living in the ex-pat community. This includes Cypriots who served Cyprus Regiment or other regiments or services over the years.
Therefore everyone in Cyprus is welcome to come and enjoy this event.
