Paphos
People April Taverna Club
Costas Tavern, Peyia
Following on from the rousing success of
the first Taverna Club night (Click here
for review) the Paphos People bandwagon rolled on to Costas
Tavern in Peyia for the second of our monthly get-togethers.
Around 60 people had signed up for this one, testament to the
success of the first event, and we had a lovely warm evening, with
the sun just setting into the sea as everyone started to show up.
The location for this one was perfect for me personally, being only
10 minutes walk from my house, so there were no concerns about who
would be the designated driver this time!
The meal was a traditional Cypriot BBQ, with salad, dips, potatoes
etc, and there was an absolute mountain of it, certainly more than
we could eat, although most gave it a good go! The bar was a bit
easier to get to this time too, and was doing a roaring trade as you
might expect. With quite a bit of space in the tavern, more people
got the chance to get around and mingle, and it was great to see
everyone mixing and chatting.
There was only a small raffle this time, with a prize of a free meal
at the next Taverna Club meeting up for grabs, and this was won by
Trollydolly Marj.
I again fulfilled my role of official photographer (Pics
Here) and enjoyed the opportunity to get around and meet
everyone for a chat – the faces are getting more familiar at every
event now, as the Paphos People become established as the
social network to be seen in, and I’m even starting to remember most
of the names, which is something I’m usually pretty rubbish at.
Thanks to everyone who attended – the Taverna Clubs are really
taking off in a bigger way than we ever imagined, and we hope you
all continue to enjoy them.
An extra special big thank you as ever to social secretary Verity
for her sterling organisational work, and we look forward to seeing
you all in Polemi next month! (Places still available -
